Change
Change is what drives most people to seek counseling and psychotherapy. It may be that things have changed in your life and you want guidance in learning how to live in your new landscape. It may be that old habits and perspectives are no longer serving you well, and you feel ready to change them. In working with a psychotherapist, you receive professional assistance in first being able to define the specific issues you need to address, and next finding effective ways to negotiate changes in your life. The goal of psychotherapy is to help people acquire the insights and direction they need to be able to deal more successfully with their concerns. How Does It Work?
The psychotherapists at Quakertown Wellness Center are experienced in counseling adults, children and couples. In an initial meeting, the therapist will work with you to decide on a plan of action, and who should attend the sessions. Most psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes long; family sessions may be longer. Most people meet with a therapist once each week.Together, you and the therapist will establish goals for your treatment. The length of treatment and the frequency of sessions vary from case to case.
Each therapist works from an individual theoretical basis, and may incorporate ideas and techniques from theories lodged in cognitive-behavioral, existential, mind-body work, and transpersonal psychologies, among others.
